Misc. Sabbat Information



Herbs for Sabbats

Use as decoration, around the circle, or make incenses to burn.

-Samhain--Chrysanthemum, wormwood, apple, pears, hazel,thistle, pomengranates, all grains, harvested fruits and nuts, pumpkin, corn.

-Yule-- Holly, mistletoe (do not leave around the house where children or animals can get to it for this is VERY poisonous!!!!!!), ivy,cedar, bay, juniper, rosemary, pine.

-Imbolc-- Snowdrop (a flower), rowan, the first flower of the year.

-Ostara-- daffodils, woodruff, violet, gorse, olive, peony, iris, narsissus, all spring flowers.

-Beltane-- hawthorn, hoenysuckle, St John's wort, wood ruff, all flowers.

-Midsummer-- mugwort, vervain, chamomile, rose,lily, oak, lavendar, ivy, yarrow, fern, elder, wild thyme, daisy, carnation.

-Lughnasadh-- all grains, grapes, heather, blackberries, sloe, crab apples, pears.

-Mabon-- hazel, corn, aspen,acorns, oak springs, autum leaves, wheat stalks, cypress cones, harvest gleanings.


Incense for the Sabbatsfrom Incense,Oils and Brewes by Scott Cunningham

To make the following incenses, you will need the herbs and oils mentioned (obviously), self-igniting charcol bricks ( these are sold at any occult shops), and containers to mix anf hold them in. I usually only make enough to last me one time. When the word parts are mentioned, I only add as much as I think is needed. If it says 2 parts of this and 1 part of that, i add more of the one than the other.


Yule

2 parts frankincence
2 parts pine needles or resin
1 part cedar
1 part juniper berries

Mix and smolder at wiccan rites on Yule or during the winter months to cleanse the home and to attune with the forces of nature amid cold days and nights.

Imbolc

3 parts frankincense
2 parts Dragon's Blood
1/2 part Red Sandalwood
1 part cinnamon
a drop or two of red wine

Ostara

2 parts frankincense
1 part Benzoin
1 part Dragon's blood
1/2 part nutmeg
1/2 part violet flowers or oil
1/2 part orange peel
1/2 part rose petals

Beltane

3 parts frankincense
2 parts Sandalwood
1 part woodruff
1 part rose petals
a few drops jasmine oil
a few drops neroli oil

Midsummer

2 parts sandalwood
1 part mugwort
1 part chamomile
1 part gardenia petals
a few drops of rose oil
a few drops of lavendar oil
a few drops yarrow oil

Midsummer #2(my favorite)

3 parts frankincense
2 parts benzoin
1 part dragon's blood
1 part thyme
1 part rosemary
1 pinch vervain
a drop or two of red wine

Lughnasadh

2 parts frankincense
1 part heather
1 part apple blossoms
2 pinch blackberry leaves
a fwe drops ambergris oil

Mabon

2 parts frankincense
1 part sandalwood
1 part cypress
1 part juniper
1 part pine
1/2 part Oakmoss
1 pinch of ground oak leaf

Samhain

On this day i just burn wormwood by itself. Wormwood attracts good spirits.
